FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Curtis Collection by Victoria Review

Let me introduce you to a homegrown makeup brand. The Curtis Collection by Victoria beauty range was born and raised in Australia, and it's awesome to see local brands killing it in the industry.

As a newcomer to mineral makeup, I was pretty excited to get my hands on some of the collection that has recently launched at RY.com exclusively online, and I'll be sharing all of my findings with you!

Curious about mineral makeup as much as I was? Read on!

Thank you to RY.com for gifting me with these goodies to try out!

Matte Perfection Mineral Liquid Powder Foundation

When it comes to mineral-based makeup, I honestly haven't tried a lot, so I was pretty excited to give this foundation a go. Even more intriguing is the 'liquid-to-powder' formula, which traditionally means you'll get a really flawless, matte finish. Fingers crossed!

The product itself is a whipped, mousse-like foundation that is really lightweight. Usually these types of formulas are a little harder to blend in, but they give great coverage once you've done the hard yards.

Let's do a quick test on the back of my hand. I've been pretty rough on mine lately (I need a good hand cream!!), so the skin here is fairly dry. But once I blended the foundation into the right side of my hand with my fingers, you can see how good the coverage is!

On the face, the formula is really long wearing, with minimal creasing and is medium coverage. I've been wearing this for the past two 9+ hour work days (not for two days straight though haha!) with no issues. I was pretty impressed! An extra tip; using a flat-top foundation brush to buff it in gives you the best application.

Radiant Glow Illuminator in Pink Diamond Drops

Okay beauties, this illuminator is gorgeous. I never reach for liquid highlighters because I find them so dang hard to blend in and end up with streaky shimmery cheeks, but this one is simply stunning.

This illuminator is high impact, really pigmented, but not so much that it looks like you have a stripe on your cheekbones. The formula is really thin, which actually makes it really easy to blend in, and it's not sticky at all. Plus when you apply this over your foundation, it doesn't mess it up!

I just apply a few little dots along my cheek bones and along the bridge of my nose, then use my fingertips to blend it in. The result is this really gorgeous, dewy glow to the skin that is super natural. Easily the best liquid highlighter I have ever used! Just look at that swatch below!

RRP: $45

Illuminating Bronzer in Sun Goddess

Let's just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful this bronzer is! Once you swirl the three shades together with your bronzer brush, the end colour it creates is this gorgeously warm, shimmery copper that I've been loving applied as a contour shade.

Here's a close up of the pan. Stunning, right?!

Other than as a contour shade, I've also been taking a fan brush and just using the lightest shade from this bronzer as a highlighter. It looks incredible layered on top of the Radiant Glow Illuminator I talked about above!

I also love that it's not the most pigmented bronzer I've ever used - I know, weird right! It's because I don't have to worry about being too heavy handed when applying this and the end finish is very natural with minimal blending. Or I'm just lazy...

Mineral Matte Blush in Flirty

Don't be shy looking at that bright pink! This raspberry matte blush is actually very easy to wear. I have a medium skin tone and it's not intense on me - it just adds a pretty flush of colour to the cheeks that is very soft and natural.

In the swatch below, that's a couple of swipes of my finger, so you can already tell that this won't be OTT on the cheeks. This shade of blush is very flattering too - a tip when choosing blush, pick a colour that naturally occurs on the body. Translated into normal English (haha), this pink shade is really similar to the colour your face normally turns when you blush, so it will look really gorgeous on all skin tones.

Signature Mineral Eye Shadow Quad in Exotic Collection

If I'm totally honest with you, when I looked at this eyeshadow palette, I didn't think I would like it so much. These shades are a bit more mature than what I normally wear, but I'm actually really loving them! The actual colours look really different on the skin and are much 'brighter'.

Just from looking at the palette above, you'd probably assume the colours were a bit flat or chalky right? Well, you and me both, AND WE WERE SO WRONG. Look below!!

Those metallic shades are so beautiful, and really easy to blend on the eyes. I've been wearing all four shades for the past few days - first I apply the cream as a base to the entire eyelids, then buff in the maroon into my crease. That maroon is my favourite shade, it's so, so pretty. Then I pat the shimmery brown onto my lids and finish off with blending the dark brown along my lower lash line.

At $62 it's a bit pricey for just four colours, but if you have sensitive eyes, this is a great palette for you as it's mineral based and hypoallergenic.

The Curtis Collection by Victoria product range is an online exclusive with RY.com and there are definitely some real gems in this collection! My top picks would be the Radiant Glow Illuminator in Pink Diamond Drops and the Signature Mineral Eye Shadow Quad in Exotic Collection. YASS.
