Let's be honest, most days we just want a makeup look that will suit every occasion, look naturally pretty and is simple to do. At least, that's what I want!
This makeup look is my everyday routine, which takes me about 15 minutes to do and works for both day and night, work and play and can actually last from the morning until the night with minimal touch ups.
So let's get started!
TUTORIAL: Everyday Natural Makeup Look
1. You know the drill ladies, not to prime is a crime! A good primer gives your foundation something to 'hold onto' so it goes on smoother and lasts longer. You don't need much either, about a pea-sized squeeze for your entire face should do the trick! You can apply with a brush, but I use my fingers as a rule to blend it in.
2. Time to ace that base! I've been using a light liquid foundation lately and one pump is all I need for my entire face and neck. I just dot it on using my fingers onto my forehead, each cheek, my nose and my chin, then I just blend it in with my finger tips.
3. After applying your foundation like this, you should still have some left on your hands. Gently pat it onto any areas that are still in need of more coverage. I've been doing this lately because concealers are typically a heavier consistency than foundations, so the less product I use on my skin, I figure the better! If there are still any areas that need a little help, I use a liquid concealer gently patted into the skin to blend to cover those areas up.
4. Under eye darkness, be gone! Use a highlighting concealer to neutralise any dark circles so you can fake an 8-hour sleep. You know you want to! Apply your concealer just below the 'bag' so you don't pull at the already delicate skin and gently,
gently, pat it in with the pad of your ring finger to blend. Bring some of the product up onto your lids as well to cover up any redness or visible veins.
5. Fill those brows in baby! Start off with a brow gel and a small angled brush to create the shape of your brows (start by 'lining' the lower arch of your brows) then fill them in with a brow powder. Don't skip this step - you can see in the image below how filling in your brows makes such a big difference!
6. Hello rosie cheeks! I've been loving creme blushes lately because I've been opting for a dewy finish over a matte one, so a cream formula fits the bill perfectly. I just swipe my blush onto the apples of each cheek and along my cheekbones, then blend the colour out with my fingers.
7. Girl, where you been? Chasing the sun? Fake that summer glow (yes, it kills me too that it's nearly winter *cries*) with a bronzer applied with a huge fluffy brush under your cheekbones, across your temples and along your jawline for a subtle face contour. I've been loving matte bronzers lately too, they give a much more natural finish!
8. Now that the base is done, spritz on a few sprays of a finishing/setting mist. This stuff does the job of your setting powder but gives you a dewy finish rather than a matte one. Since my skin has stopped being as oily as it was when I was in my teens, I can actually get away with a dewy complexion now!
9. Now for those peepers. If you're a regular reader of my blog, then you'll know that there's no question that winged eyeliner will be a part of my everyday makeup routine! So take your favourite liquid liner, line your top lash line and wing it out at the outer corner. I just did a tutorial on how to get the perfect cat eye, so check it out
here if you're interested!
10. Remember that thing about faking a good night's sleep? You can also apply a shimmery silver or champagne shade of eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes for an instant eye-brightening look. #coffeenotneeded #jokescoffeeisalwaysneeded
11. Lash out! I've been going pretty big with my lashes recently (yes, this is bold lashes for me #shortlashproblems), taking a volumizing mascara and applying it from the roots of my lashes and shimmying it out to the tips. This creates a flared effect and keeps your lashes separated from one another for a wide-eyed look.
12. Last of all, lips. I've been keeping it fairly natural with just a tinted balm. They moisturise and add a subtle hint of colour, which is all I've really needed lately!
And that's it!
What's a product that you use everyday in your makeup routine, without fail? Let me know in the comments below!
I still can't get over your perfect eyeliner - I fail every time! For me, my most needed product would be a bright lip! Love the berry/red lip looks...do you? (:
